Built in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.afsc.noaa.gov\/History\/vessels\/boats\/crane.htm\" target=\"_blank\">1928 at Port Blakely, Washington by J. C. Johnson Bros.<\/a> she was originally used for fisheries patrol and maintenance by the US Fish and Wildlife service and later by the State of Alaska Fish and Game Department.  She was very solidly built, she and her two somewhat smaller sister vessels, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.afsc.noaa.gov\/History\/vessels\/boats\/teal.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Teal<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.afsc.noaa.gov\/History\/vessels\/boats\/pelican.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Pelican<\/a>, are all still in service after nearly a century.<\/p>\n<p>A beautiful vessel, she is currently <a href=\"http:\/\/www.craneadventures.com\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\">available for charter<\/a> during the summer months.
