{"id":678,"date":"2012-02-10T01:25:26","date_gmt":"2012-02-10T09:25:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nordicquest.com\/wordpress\/?p=678"},"modified":"2012-02-01T14:27:04","modified_gmt":"2012-02-01T22:27:04","slug":"encountering-brown-bear","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/nordicquest.com\/wordpress\/?p=678","title":{"rendered":"Encountering Brown Bear"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Almost anyone who lives in Alaska can recall their first\u00a0or maybe even frequent bear encounters.\u00a0 I count myself in this group and can vividly remember the first time I encountered a bear up close and personal.\u00a0 Looking back on that incident, it doesn&#8217;t seem that dangerous but the excitement of the moment was adrenelin pumping.\u00a0 I had taken my friends on a walk from the boat harbor at Tenakee Springs out to the river to see if there were any brown bear catching salmon.\u00a0 On the walk out the trail through the woods we met several groups of people coming back.\u00a0 Each group carried a gun &#8211;
